Inspection Procedure

  1. CHECK FOR EXHAUST GAS LEAK 
    1. Allow the engine to idle.
    2. Check for an exhaust gas leak around the HO2 sensor.

      OK: No exhaust gas leak from the HO2 sensor. 

    NG: REPAIR EXHAUST GAS LEAK POINT 

    OK: Go to Next Step 

  2. INSPECT HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR

    1. Connect a Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn the tester ON.
    4. Start the engine and warm it up.
    5. Allow the engine to idle.
    6. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Engine and ECT Active Test / Control the Injection Volume for A/F Sensor.
    7. Check the O2S B1S2 values when the Control the Injection Volume for A/F Sensor is -12.5% Lean fuel trim.
    8. Check the O2S B1S2 values when the Control the Injection Volume for A/F Sensor is 25% Rich fuel trim.

      Standard voltage 

      VOLTAGE SPECIFICATION

      Control the Injection Volume for A/F Sensor O2S B1S2
      -12.5% Less than 0.2 V
      25% More than 0.8 V

    NG: REPLACE HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR  (See REMOVAL )

    OK: Go to Next Step 

  3. CHECK WHETHER DTC OUTPUT RECURS (DTC P0606) 
    1. Connect a Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn the tester ON.
    4. Clear DTC (See DTC CHECK/CLEAR  ).
    5. Turn the ignition switch to OFF and turn the tester OFF.
    6. Disconnect the tester.
    7. Disconnect the cable from the battery negative (-) terminal and wait for 1 minute.
    8. Connect the cable to the battery negative (-) terminal.
    9. Connect the tester to the DLC3.
    10. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    11. Turn the tester ON.
    12. Start the engine.

    13. Perform the drive pattern.
      1. Warm up the engine.
      2. Accelerate the vehicle until 50 mph (80 km/h) and stop the vehicle.
      3. Drive the vehicle at 35 to 50 mph (60 to 80 km/h) for 5 minutes or more.
    14. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.
    15. Read DTCs.

    B: REPLACE ECM (See  REMOVAL   ) 

    A: CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS (See  CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS   )
