Inspection Procedure

  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (DEICER RELAY) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Air Conditioner / Active Test / Deicer Relay (Front)
    5. Check that the deicer operation.

      Air Conditioner 

      AIR CONDITIONER REFERENCE CHART

      Tester Display Test Part Control Range Diagnostic Note
      Deicer Relay (Front) Deicer relay operation OFF or ON -

      OK: Deicer operates on and off. 

    NG:  Go to step  5

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM (LIN COMMUNICATION) 
    1. Operate the integration control and panel to change the set temperature and check that the temperature at the outlets changes.

      OK: The outlet temperature changes in accordance with the operation of the control panel 

    NG: GO TO AIR CONDITIONING CONTROL CIRCUIT  (See AIR CONDITIONING CONTROL PANEL DOES NOT OPERATE )

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. REPLACE INTEGRATION CONTROL AND PANEL 
    1. Temporarily replace the integration control and panel with a new or normally functioning one (See REMOVAL ).
  4. CHECK INTEGRATION CONTROL AND PANEL (OPERATION) 
    1. Check that the malfunction disappears.

      OK: Malfunction disappears. 

    NG: REPLACE AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER  (See REMOVAL )

    OK: END (INTEGRATION CONTROL AND PANEL IS DEFECTIVE) 

  5. INSPECT FUSE (DEICER) 
    1. Remove the DEICER fuse from the engine room relay block.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      DEICER fuse Always Below 1 Ω
    3. Reinstall the DEICER fuse.

    NG: REPLACE FUSE

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. INSPECT DEICER RELAY 
    1. Remove the DEICER relay from the engine room relay block.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      3 - 5 When battery voltage is not applied between terminals 1 and 2 10 kΩ or higher
      When battery voltage is applied to terminals 1 and 2 Below 1 Ω

    3. Reinstall the DEICER relay.

    NG: REPLACE DEICER RELAY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DEICER RELAY - AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER AND BATTERY) 
    1. Remove the deicer relay from the engine room relay block.
    2. Disconnect the H24 air conditioning amplifier connector.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      Deicer relay terminal 1 - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
      Deicer relay terminal 5 - Body ground Always 11 to 14 V
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      Deicer relay terminal 2 - H24-40 (D) Always Below 1 Ω
      Deicer relay terminal 2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    5. Reconnect the air conditioning amplifier connector.
    6. Reinstall the deicer relay.

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DEICER RELAY - WINDSHIELD DEICER WIRE) 
    1. Remove the deicer relay from the engine room relay block.
    2. Disconnect the A23 windshield deicer wire connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A25-1 (B) - Deicer relay terminal 3 Always Below 1 Ω
      Deicer relay terminal 3 -Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Reconnect the A25 windshield deicer wire connector.
    5. Reinstall the deicer relay.

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

    OK: Go to next step 

  9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (WINDSHIELD DEICER WIRE - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the A25 windshield deicer wire connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A25-2 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
    3. Reconnect the windshield deicer wire connector.

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  10. CHECK WINDSHIELD DEICER WIRE (SYSTEM VOLTAGE) 
    1. Disconnect the A25 windshield deicer wire connector.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      A25-1 (B) - A25-2 (E) Ignition switch ON Windshield deicer switch ON 11 to 14 V
    3. Reconnect the windshield deicer wire connector.

    NG: REPLACE AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER  (See REMOVAL )

    OK: REPLACE WINDSHIELD GLASS  (See REMOVAL  )
