Inspection Procedure

  1. PERFORM INITIALIZATION (BACK DOOR POWER WINDOW) 
    1. Initialize the back door power window regulator motor (See INITIALIZATION  )
    2. Check if rear window defogger function operate (See OPERATION CHECK  )

      OK: Rear window defogger function operates. 

    NG: Go to step 2 

    OK: END 

  2. CHECK LIN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM 
    1. Check for LIN communication system DTCs related to the power window control system (See DTC CHECK/CLEAR ).

      OK: LIN communication system DTCs are not output. 

    NG: GO TO LIN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM  (See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART )

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM 
    1. Check for CAN communication system DTCs (See DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM ).

      OK: CAN communication system DTCs are not output. 

    NG: GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM  (See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART )

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (DEFOGGER RELAY) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Air Conditioner / Active Test / Defogger Relay (Rear)
    5. Check that the defogger operation.

      Air Conditioner 

      AIR CONDITIONER REFERENCE CHART

      Tester Display Test Part Control Range Diagnostic Note
      Defogger Relay (Rear) Rear window defogger relay operation OFF or ON -

      OK: Defogger operates on and off. 

    NG:  Go to step  8

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM (LIN COMMUNICATION) 
    1. Operate the front air conditioner control panel to change the set temperature and check that the temperature at the outlets changes.

      OK: The outlet temperature changes in accordance with the operation of the control panel. 

    NG: GO TO AIR CONDITIONING CONTROL CIRCUIT  (See AIR CONDITIONING CONTROL PANEL DOES NOT OPERATE )

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. REPLACE INTEGRATION CONTROL AND PANEL 
    1. Temporarily replace the integration control and panel with a new or normally functioning one (See REMOVAL ).
  7. CHECK INTEGRATION CONTROL AND PANEL (OPERATION) 
    1. Check that the malfunction disappears.

      OK: Malfunction disappears. 

    NG: REPLACE AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER  (See REMOVAL )

    OK: END (INTEGRATION CONTROL AND PANEL IS DEFECTIVE) 

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DEFOGGER RELAY - BACK DOOR GLASS (REAR DEFOGGER)) 
    1. Disconnect the V11 rear defogger connector.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      V11-1 - Body ground Engine running Rear defogger switch ON 11 to 14 V
    3. Reconnect the rear defogger connector.

    NG:  Go to step  10

    OK: Go to next step 

  9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (REAR WINDOW DEFOGGER - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the V12 rear defogger connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B-1 - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
    3. Reconnect the rear defogger connector.

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

    OK: REPAIR OR REPLACE BACK DOOR GLASS (REAR WINDOW DEFOGGER)  (See REPAIR  )

  10. INSPECT FUSE (DEF) 
    1. Remove the DEF fuse from the engine room relay block.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      DEF fuse Always Below 1 Ω
    3. Reinstall the DEF fuse.

    NG: REPLACE FUSE

    OK: Go to next step 

  11. INSPECT DEFOGGER RELAY (DEFOG) 
    1. Remove the defogger relay from the engine room relay block.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      3 - 4 When battery voltage is not applied between terminals 1 and 2 Below 1 Ω
      3 - 5 10 kΩ or higher
      3 - 4 When battery voltage is applied to terminals 1 and 2 10 kΩ or higher
      3 - 5 Below 1 Ω
    3. Reinstall the defogger relay.

    NG: REPLACE DEFOGGER RELAY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  12. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DEFOGGER RELAY - BATTERY) 
    1. Remove the defogger relay from the engine room relay block.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      Defogger relay terminal 1 - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
      Defogger relay terminal 5 - Body ground Always 11 to 14 V
    3. Reinstall the defogger relay.

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

    OK: Go to next step 

  13. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DEFOGGER RELAY - AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER) 
    1. Remove the defogger relay from the engine room relay block.
    2. Disconnect the H24 air conditioning amplifier connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      Defogger relay terminal 2 - H24-38 (RDEF) Always Below 1 Ω
    4. Reconnect the air conditioning amplifier connector.
    5. Reinstall the defogger relay.

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

    OK: Go to next step 

  14. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (REAR WINDOW DEFOGGER - DEFOGGER RELAY, BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the V11 and V12 defogger connectors.
    2. Remove the defogger relay from the engine room relay block.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      V11-1 - Defogger relay terminal 3 Always Below 1 Ω
      V12-1 - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      Defogger relay terminal 4 - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      V11-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Reinstall the defogger relay.
    5. Reconnect the defogger connectors.

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

    OK: REPLACE AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER  (See REMOVAL )
