Rear Leaf Spring: Installation
HINT:
- Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
- The procedures listed below are for the LH side.
- A bolt without a torque specification is shown in the standard bolt chart (see SPECIFIED TORQUE FOR STANDARD BOLTS ).
- INSTALL REAR SPRING SHACKLE BUSH
- Install the 2 shackle bushes to the frame.
- INSTALL TUBE
- Install the tube to the bush.
- TEMPORARILY INSTALL REAR SPRING ASSEMBLY LH
- Temporarily install the spring with the No. 2 spring shackle plate, shackle outer plate, 2 washers and 2 nuts to the rear side.
- Temporarily install the spring with the bolt, washer and nut to the front side.
- INSTALL REAR SPRING BUMPER SUB-ASSEMBLY
- Install the spring bumper.NOTE: Align the leaf spring center bolt and nut with the installation hole of the rear axle housing and spring bumper so that they are not loose.
- Install the spring bumper.
- TEMPORARILY INSTALL REAR SPRING U BOLT
- Temporarily install the spring seat and 2 U bolts with the 4 washers and 4 nuts.NOTE:
- Tighten the nuts in the order shown in the illustration.
- Install the U bolts so that the lengths of the 4 ends under the spring seat are the same.

- Temporarily install the spring seat and 2 U bolts with the 4 washers and 4 nuts.
- CONNECT NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY
- Connect the parking brake cable to the vehicle with the 3 bolts.
Torque: for Bolt A
19 N*m (194 kgf*cm, 14 ft.*lbf)
for Bolt B
14 N*m (138 kgf*cm, 10 ft.*lbf)
- Connect the parking brake cable to the vehicle with the 3 bolts.
- STABILIZE SUSPENSION (see INSTALLATION )
- TIGHTEN REAR SPRING ASSEMBLY LH
- Tighten the 3 nuts.
Torque: 105 N*m (1071 kgf*cm, 77 ft.*lbf)
- Tighten the 3 nuts.
- TIGHTEN REAR SPRING U BOLT
- Tighten the 4 nuts.
Torque: 100 N*m (1020 kgf*cm, 74 ft.*lbf)
- Tighten the 4 nuts.
- INSTALL REAR WHEEL
Torque: for Aluminum Wheel
131 N*m (1336 kgf*cm, 97 ft.*lbf)
for Steel Wheel
209 N*m (2131 kgf*cm, 154 ft.*lbf)
- INSTALL SPARE TIRE
- REMOVE SAFETY STANDS
