Windshield Glass: Removal

  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
  2. REMOVE FRONT WIPER ARM HEAD CAP (See  ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION  ) 
  3. REMOVE FRONT WIPER ARM LH (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  4. REMOVE FRONT WIPER ARM RH (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  5. REMOVE FRONT FENDER TO COWL SIDE SEAL LH (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  6. REMOVE FRONT FENDER TO COWL SIDE SEAL RH 

    HINT:

    Follow the same procedures as for the fender to cowl side seal LH.

  7. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER SUB-ASSEMBLY (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  8. REMOVE INNER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY (See  INNER REAR VIEW MIRROR  ) 
  9. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP LH 
    1. Separate the front door opening trim weatherstrip to the extent which allows the removal of the front pillar garnish.
  10. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM  WEATHERSTRIP RH

    HINT:

    Follow the same procedures as for the front door opening trim weatherstrip LH.

  11. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH (for Regular Cab) (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  12. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH (for Access Cab) (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  13. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH (for Double Cab) (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  14. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH RH (for Regular Cab) 

    HINT:

    Follow the same procedures as for the front pillar garnish LH.

  15. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH RH (for Access Cab) 

    HINT:

    Follow the same procedures as for the front pillar garnish LH.

  16. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH RH (for Double Cab) 

    HINT:

    Follow the same procedures as for the front pillar garnish LH.

  17. REMOVE ROOF CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY (for Access Cab) (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  18. REMOVE ROOF CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY (for Double Cab) (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  19. REMOVE ASSIST GRIP PLUG (w/ Curtain Shield Airbag) (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  20. REMOVE ASSIST GRIP SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Double Cab) (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  21. REMOVE VISOR ASSEMBLY LH (for Regular Cab) (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  22. REMOVE VISOR ASSEMBLY LH (for Access Cab) (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  23. REMOVE VISOR ASSEMBLY RH (for Double Cab) (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  24. REMOVE VISOR ASSEMBLY RH (for Regular Cab) 

    HINT:

    Follow the same procedures as for the LH visor.

  25. REMOVE VISOR ASSEMBLY RH (for Access Cab) 

    HINT:

    Follow the same procedures as for the LH visor.

  26. REMOVE VISOR ASSEMBLY RH (for Double Cab) 

    HINT:

    Follow the same procedures as for the LH visor.

  27. REMOVE VISOR HOLDER (for Regular Cab) (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  28. REMOVE VISOR HOLDER (for Access Cab) (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  29. REMOVE VISOR HOLDER (for Double Cab) (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  30. REMOVE WINDSHIELD UPPER MOLDING OUTER 
    1. Using a knife, cut off the windshield upper molding outer, as shown in Fig 1.
      NOTE: Be careful not to damage the vehicle body with the knife.
    2. Remove the windshield upper molding outer.

      HINT:

      Make a partial cut in the windshield upper molding outer. Then pull and remove it by hand.

  31. REMOVE WINDSHIELD GLASS 
    1. Apply protective tape to the outer circumference of the windshield glass, as shown in Fig 2.
    2. From the interior, insert piano wires between the vehicle body and windshield glass, as shown in Fig 2.
    3. Tie objects that can serve as handles (for example, wooden blocks) to all wire ends.
      NOTE:
      • When separating the windshield glass from the vehicle, be careful not to damage the vehicle's paint or exterior/interior ornaments.
      • To prevent the safety pad from being scratched when removing the windshield glass, place a plastic sheet between the piano wire and safety pad.
    4. Cut through the adhesive by pulling the piano wire around the windshield glass.

    5. Disengage the 2 stoppers.
    6. Using suction cups, remove the windshield glass.
      NOTE: Leave as much adhesive on the vehicle body as possible when removing the windshield glass.
