Outer Rear View Mirror: Inspection

  1. INSPECT OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY LH (w/o Memory) 
    1. Disconnect the mirror connector.
      1. Check operation of the outer mirror.
      2. Apply battery voltage and inspect operation of the mirror face, as shown in the table and illustration.

        Standard (LH) 

        MEASUREMENT CONDITION

        Symbols (Measurement Condition) Mirror Operation
        Battery positive (+) → MV (6)
        Battery negative (-) → M+ (7)
        Turns upward (A)
        Battery positive (+) → M+ (7)
        Battery negative (-) → MV (6)
        Turns downward (B)
        Battery positive (+) → M+ (7)
        Battery negative (-) → MH (8)
        Turns left (C)
        Battery positive (+) → MH (8)
        Battery negative (-) → M+ (7)
        Turns right (D)

        If the result is not as specified, replace the mirror assembly.

  2. INSPECT OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY RH (w/o Memory) 
    1. Disconnect the mirror connector.
    2. Check operation of the outer mirror.
      1. Apply battery voltage and inspect operation of the mirror face, as shown in the table and illustration.

        Standard (RH) 

        MEASUREMENT CONDITION

        Symbols (Measurement Condition) Mirror Operation
        Battery positive (+) → MV (6)
        Battery negative (-) → M+ (7)
        Turns upward (A)
        Battery positive (+) → M+ (7)
        Battery negative (-) → MV (6)
        Turns downward (B)
        Battery positive (+) → M+ (7)
        Battery negative (-) → MH (8)
        Turns right (D)
        Battery positive (+) → MH (8)
        Battery negative (-) → M+ (7)
        Turns left (C)

        If the result is not as specified, replace the mirror assembly.

  3. INSPECT OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY LH (w/ Memory) 
    1. Disconnect the mirror connector.
    2. Check operation of the outer mirror.
      1. Apply battery voltage and inspect operation of the mirror face, as shown in the table and illustration.

        Standard (LH) 

        MEASUREMENT CONDITION

        Battery positive (+) → MV(10)
        Battery negative (-) → M+ (11)
        Turns upward (A)
        Battery positive (+) → M+(11)
        Battery negative (-) → MV (10)
        Turns downward (B)
        Battery positive (+) → MH (12)
        Battery negative (-) → M+ (11)
        Turns left (C)
        Battery positive (+) → M+ (11)
        Battery negative (-) → MH (12)
        Turns right (D)

        If the result is not as specified, replace the mirror assembly.

    3. Check operation of the EC mirror.
      1. Apply battery voltage and inspect operation of the mirror face, as shown in the table and illustration.

        Standard (LH) 

        MEASUREMENT CONDITION

        Symbols (Measurement Condition) Mirror Operation
        Battery positive (+) → EC+ (14)
        Battery negative (-) → EC- (13)
        Mirror surface changes to dark

        If the result is not as specified, replace the mirror assembly.

    4. Check of the retract function.
      1. Apply battery voltage and inspect operation of the mirror, as shown in the table and illustration.

        Standard (LH) 

        MEASUREMENT CONDITION

        Measurement Condition Mirror Operation
        Battery positive (+) → (3)
        Battery negative (-) → (4)
        Retract position (Fold)
        Battery positive (+) → (4)
        Battery negative (-) → (3)
        Driving position (Unfold)

        If the result is not as specified, replace the mirror assembly.

  4. INSPECT OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY RH (w/ Memory) 
    1. Disconnect the mirror connector.
    2. Check operation of the outer mirror.
      1. Apply battery voltage and inspect operation of the mirror face, as shown in the table and illustration.

        Standard (RH)

        Battery positive (+) → MV (10)
        Battery negative (-) → M+ (11)
        Turns upward (A)
        Battery positive (+) → M+ (11)

        If the result is not as specified, replace the mirror assembly.

    3. Check operation of the EC mirror.
      1. Apply battery voltage and inspect operation of the mirror face, as shown in the table and illustration.

        Standard (RH) 

        MEASUREMENT CONDITION

        Symbols (Measurement Condition) Mirror Operation
        Battery positive (+) → EC+ (14)
        Battery negative (-) → EC- (13)
        Mirror surface changes to dark

        If the result is not as specified, replace the mirror assembly.

    4. Check of the retract function.
