Instrument Panel Safety Pad: Removal

  1. BOLTS, SCREWS AND NUTS TABLE 

    HINT:

    Indicate the bolts, screws and nuts, which are necessary for installation and removal of the instrument panel, in the illustration and the text with alphabets.

    1. Remove of bolts, screws and nuts table.

  2. DISCONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL 
  3. INSPECT CENTER FRONT WHEEL 
  4. REMOVE STEERING PAD (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  5. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  6. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  7. REMOVE HEADLIGHT DIMMER SWITCH ASSEMBLY (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  8. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  9. REMOVE CENTER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Using a molding remover, disengage the 4 clips and 3 claws.
    2. Disconnect connector, then remove the center instrument cluster finish panel sub-assembly.
  10. REMOVE RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY (w/o Navigation System) (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  11. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transaxle) 
    1. Turn the shift lever sub-assembly counter clockwise and remove the shift lever knob sub-assembly.

  12. REMOVE CENTER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY 
    1. Power point socket models only:

      Disengage the 5 claws and remove the switch base.

    2. Remove the control knob.
    3. Remove the screw < E >.
    4. Using a molding remover, disengage the 2 clips and 7 claws, then pull out the center instrument cluster finish panel assembly.
    5. Disconnect the connectors.
  13. REMOVE AIR CONDITIONING CONTROL ASSEMBLY (See  ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION  )

  14. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL BOX 
    1. Open the instrument panel box.
    2. Pull the instrument panel box upward to remove it.

  15. REMOVE LOWER CENTER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL 
    1. M/T Transaxle:

      Remove the 3 screws < E >.

    2. A/T Transaxle:

      Remove the 5 screws < E >.

    3. Using a screwdriver, disengage the claws, then remove the lower center instrument panel finish.

      HINT:

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

  16. REMOVE FLOOR SHIFT ASSEMBLY (for Automatic Transaxle) (See  DISASSEMBLY  ) 
  17. REMOVE FLOOR SHIFT LEVER ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transaxle) (See  INSTALLATION  ) 
  18. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH 
    1. Disengage the 9 claws, then remove the front door scuff plate LH.
  19. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.

  20. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD LH 
    1. Remove the cowl side trim clip.
    2. Disengage the 2 claws, then remove the cowl side trim board LH.
  21. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD RH 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.

  22. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR STOPPER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Open the glove compartment door.
    2. Remove the screw < G > and glove compartment door stopper sub-assembly.

  23. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Deform the upper part of the glove compartment door assembly to release the stoppers.
    2. Pull the glove compartment door assembly upward to remove it.
  24. DISCONNECT PASSENGER AIRBAG CONNECTOR (See  INSTALLATION  )

  25. REMOVE METER HOOD SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Using a molding remover, disengage the 5 claws and 3 clips, then remove the meter hood sub-assembly.

  26. REMOVE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the screw < E >.
    2. Disengage the 2 claws as shown in the illustration.

    3. Disconnect connector, then remove the combination meter assembly, as shown in the illustration.

  27. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Using a molding remover, disengage the 4 clips and 2 claws.
    2. Pull out the instrument cluster finish panel sub-assembly.

  28. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH 
    1. Disengage the 3 clips and 2 claws, then remove the front pillar garnish LH.
  29. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH RH 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.

  30. REMOVE UPPER INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 3 screws < E > and bolt < A >.
    2. Disengage the 3 clips and 9 claws.
    3. Pull the upper instrument panel sub-assembly rearward to remove it.

    4. Disconnect the connectors.

  31. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the hood lock control cable and DLC3 connector.
    2. Using a clip remover, remove the 4 clips.
    3. Remove the 7 bolts < B > or < C >, < D > and 4 screws
    4. Disengage the wire harness 4 clamps.
    5. Remove the instrument panel sub-assembly lower.

  32. REMOVE CENTER NO. 2 INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL 
    1. Using a molding remover, disengage the 2 claws.
    2. Pull out the center No. 2 instrument cluster finish panel.
  33. REMOVE CENTER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL 
  34. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL BOX 
  35. REMOVE CENTER INSTRUMENT PANEL BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY
