Instrument Panel Safety Pad: Removal
- BOLTS, SCREWS AND NUTS TABLE
HINT:
Indicate the bolts, screws and nuts, which are necessary for installation and removal of the instrument panel, in the illustration and the text with alphabets.
- Remove of bolts, screws and nuts table.
- DISCONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL
- INSPECT CENTER FRONT WHEEL
- REMOVE STEERING PAD (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE HEADLIGHT DIMMER SWITCH ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE CENTER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY
- Using a molding remover, disengage the 4 clips and 3 claws.
- Disconnect connector, then remove the center instrument cluster finish panel sub-assembly.
- REMOVE RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY (w/o Navigation System) (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transaxle)
- Turn the shift lever sub-assembly counter clockwise and remove the shift lever knob sub-assembly.
- REMOVE CENTER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY
- Power point socket models only:
Disengage the 5 claws and remove the switch base.
- Remove the control knob.
- Remove the screw < E >.
- Using a molding remover, disengage the 2 clips and 7 claws, then pull out the center instrument cluster finish panel assembly.
- Disconnect the connectors.
- Power point socket models only:
- REMOVE AIR CONDITIONING CONTROL ASSEMBLY (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION )
- REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL BOX
- Open the instrument panel box.
- Pull the instrument panel box upward to remove it.
- REMOVE LOWER CENTER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL
- M/T Transaxle:
Remove the 3 screws < E >.
- A/T Transaxle:
Remove the 5 screws < E >.
- Using a screwdriver, disengage the claws, then remove the lower center instrument panel finish.
HINT:
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
- M/T Transaxle:
- REMOVE FLOOR SHIFT ASSEMBLY (for Automatic Transaxle) (See DISASSEMBLY )
- REMOVE FLOOR SHIFT LEVER ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transaxle) (See INSTALLATION )
- REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH
- Disengage the 9 claws, then remove the front door scuff plate LH.
- REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH
HINT:
Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
- REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD LH
- Remove the cowl side trim clip.
- Disengage the 2 claws, then remove the cowl side trim board LH.
- REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD RH
HINT:
Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
- REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR STOPPER SUB-ASSEMBLY
- Open the glove compartment door.
- Remove the screw < G > and glove compartment door stopper sub-assembly.
- REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSEMBLY
- Deform the upper part of the glove compartment door assembly to release the stoppers.
- Pull the glove compartment door assembly upward to remove it.
- DISCONNECT PASSENGER AIRBAG CONNECTOR (See INSTALLATION )
- REMOVE METER HOOD SUB-ASSEMBLY
- Using a molding remover, disengage the 5 claws and 3 clips, then remove the meter hood sub-assembly.
- REMOVE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY
- Remove the screw < E >.
- Disengage the 2 claws as shown in the illustration.
- Disconnect connector, then remove the combination meter assembly, as shown in the illustration.
- REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY
- Using a molding remover, disengage the 4 clips and 2 claws.
- Pull out the instrument cluster finish panel sub-assembly.
- REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH
- Disengage the 3 clips and 2 claws, then remove the front pillar garnish LH.
- REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH RH
HINT:
Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
- REMOVE UPPER INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY
- Remove the 3 screws < E > and bolt < A >.
- Disengage the 3 clips and 9 claws.
- Pull the upper instrument panel sub-assembly rearward to remove it.
- Disconnect the connectors.
- REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY
- Disconnect the hood lock control cable and DLC3 connector.
- Using a clip remover, remove the 4 clips.
- Remove the 7 bolts < B > or < C >, < D > and 4 screws
- Disengage the wire harness 4 clamps.
- Remove the instrument panel sub-assembly lower.
- REMOVE CENTER NO. 2 INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL
- Using a molding remover, disengage the 2 claws.
- Pull out the center No. 2 instrument cluster finish panel.
- REMOVE CENTER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL
- REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL BOX
- REMOVE CENTER INSTRUMENT PANEL BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY
