Section 10 (Starting System): Starter: Reassembly

- INSTALL STARTER CLUTCH SUB-ASSEMBLY
- Apply grease to the steel ball, return spring, clutch rollers and starter idler pinions.
- Install the steel ball.
- Install a new O-ring to the starter housing.
- Insert the return spring into the magnet starter switch hole.
- Install the starter clutch, idler gear, retainer and clutch roller.
- Install the starter housing to the magnet switch with the 2 screws.
Torque: 9.3 N*m (95 kgf*cm, 82 in.*lbf)
- INSTALL STARTER ARMATURE ASSEMBLY
- Install the starter armature to the starter yoke.
- INSTALL STARTER BRUSH HOLDER ASSEMBLY
- Align the claw of the brush holder with the claw groove of the starter yoke.
- Place the brush holder on the starter yoke.
- Install the 2 starter yoke brushes to the brush holder.
- Using a screwdriver, pull back the spring.
- Install the brush to the brush holder.NOTE: Check that the positive (+) lead wires are not grounded.
- Install a new O-ring to the groove of the starter yoke.
- Install the end cover with 2 new O-rings and the 2 screws.
Torque: 3.8 N*m (39 kgf*cm, 34 in.*lbf)
- INSTALL STARTER YOKE ASSEMBLY
- Install a new O-ring to the groove of the starter yoke.
- Align the protrusion of the starter yoke with the groove of the magnetic switch.
- Install the starter yoke with the 2 through bolts.
Torque: 9.3 N*m (95 kgf*cm, 82 in.*lbf)
- Connect the lead wire to terminal C with the nut.
Torque: 5.9 N*m (60 kgf*cm, 52 in.*lbf)
