Transmission Control Cable ASSY (MTM): Replacement

HINT: COMPONENTS: See FLOOR SHIFT LEVER ASSY (MTM) INSTRUMENT PANEL/METER

1. PRECAUTION 
   NOTE: Do not open the cover or the case of the ECU and various electrical devices unless absolutely necessary (If the IC terminals are touched, the IC may be destroyed by static electricity).
2. DISCONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL 
3. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSY 
4. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ASSY CTR (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
5. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL BOX (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
6. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL LOWER CENTER (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
7. REMOVE AIR BAG SENSOR ASSY CENTER (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
8. REMOVE EXHAUST PIPE ASSY 

   1ZZ-FE engine type: (see REMOVAL & INSTALLATION AND DISASSEMBLY & REASSEMBLY (1ZZ-FE) )

   2ZZ-GE engine type: (see REMOVAL & INSTALLATION AND DISASSEMBLY & REASSEMBLY (2ZZ-GE) )

9. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR HEAT INSULATOR NO. 1 (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
   1. Remove the 3 nuts and heat insulator No.1.
10. SEPARATE FLOOR SHIFT CABLE TRANSMISSION CONTROL SHIFT 
    1. Remove the clip, washer and disconnect the cable end of the shift cable from the shift lever assy.

    2. Turn the lock and disconnect the shift cable from the shift lever assy.
    3. Pull out the shift cable from the floor.

11. SEPARATE FLOOR SHIFT CABLE TRANSMISSION CONTROL SELECT 
    1. Remove the clip and disconnect the cable end of the select cable from the shift lever assy.

    2. Turn the lock and disconnect the select cable from the shift lever assy.
    3. Pull out the select cable from the floor.

12. REMOVE TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSY 
    1. Remove the 2 clip, 2 washer and disconnect the cable end of the control cable assy from the transaxle.
    2. Remove the 2 clip and disconnect the control cable assy from the bracket.

    3. Remove the 2 nuts and disconnect the control cable assy.
    4. Disconnect the control cable assy from the clamp.

    5. Remove the 2 bolts from the retainer.
    6. Pull out the control cable assy from the floor.

    7. Remove the retainer from the grommet.

13. INSTALL TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSY 
    1. Install the retainer to the grommet.
       NOTE: Fit 4 projections of the grommet into 4 holes of the retainer.

    2. Install the control cable assy with the 2 bolts.

       Torque: 5.0 N.m (51 kgf.cm, 44 in.lbf)

    3. Connect the shift cable with the 2 nuts.

       Torque: 5.0 N.m (51 kgf.cm, 44 in.lbf)

    4. Connect the shift cable with the 2 clip from the bracket.
    5. Connect the shift cable end of the shift cable with the 2 washer and 2 clip to the transaxle.

14. CONNECT FLOOR SHIFT CABLE TRANSMISSION CONTROL SELECT 
    1. Connect the select cable to the shift lever assy.
       NOTE:

       • The projecting part of the cable outer should face upward when the shift cable is installed.
       • Make sure that after installation the cable outer spring is moved to the place shown in the illustration.

    2. Connect the select cable end with the clip to the shift lever assy.
    3. Connect the select cable to the clamp.

15. CONNECT FLOOR SHIFT CABLE TRANSMISSION CONTROL SHIFT 
    1. Connect the shift cable to the shift lever assy.
       NOTE:

       • The projecting part of the cable outer should face upward when the shift cable is installed.
       • Make sure that after installation the cable outer spring is moved to the place shown in the illustration.

    2. Connect the shift cable end as shown in the illustration.
    3. Install the washer and clip.
    4. Connect the shift cable to the clamp.

16. INSTALL FRONT FLOOR HEAT INSULATOR NO. 1 
    1. Install the heat insulator No.1 with the 3 nuts.

       Torque: 5.5 N.m (56 kgf.cm, 49 in.lbf) 

17. INSTALL EXHAUST PIPE ASSY 
    • 1ZZ-FE engine type: (see REMOVAL & INSTALLATION AND DISASSEMBLY & REASSEMBLY (1ZZ-FE) )
    • 2ZZ-GE engine type: (see REMOVAL & INSTALLATION AND DISASSEMBLY & REASSEMBLY (2ZZ-GE) )
18. INSTALL AIR BAG SENSOR ASSY CENTER (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 

    SST 09249-63010

19. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT (See  DTC CHECK/CLEAR  )
