On-Vehicle Inspection

HINT:

Inspect these items on a cooled down engine.

  1. INSPECT DRIVE BELT (See  FAN AND GENERATOR V BELT (1ZZ-FE)  ,  FAN AND GENERATOR V BELT (2ZZ-GE)  ) 
  2. REPLACE SPARK PLUGS (See  IGNITION SYSTEM (1ZZ-FE)  ,  IGNITION SYSTEM (2ZZ-GE)  ) 
  3. INSPECT AIR FILTER 
    1. Remove the air filter.
    2. Visually check that the air filter is not excessively damaged, dirty or oily.

      If necessary, replace the air filter.

    3. Clean the filter with compressed air.

      First blow from the inside of the filter thoroughly, then repeat from the outside.

    4. Reinstall the air filter.

  4. REPLACE AIR FILTER 
    1. Replace the air filter with a new one.
  5. REPLACE ENGINE OIL AND OIL FILTER (See  OIL FILTER SUB-ASSY (1ZZ-FE)  ,  OIL FILTER SUB-ASSY (2ZZ-GE)  ) 
  6. REPLACE ENGINE COOLANT (See  ENGINE COOLANT (1ZZ-FE)  ,  ENGINE COOLANT (2ZZ-GE)  ) 
  7. INSPECT GASKET IN FUEL TANK CAP (See 1ZZ-FE:  INSPECTION  , 2ZZ-GE:  INSPECTION  ) 
  8. INSPECT FUEL LINES AND CONNECTIONS, FUEL TANK VAPOR VENT SYSTEM HOSES AND FUEL TANK BANDS 
    1. Visually check the fuel lines for cracks, leakage, loose connections, deformation and tank band loose-ness.
  9. INSPECT EXHAUST PIPES AND MOUNTINGS 
    1. Visually check the pipes, hangers and connections for severe corrosion, leaks and damage.
  10. INSPECT VALVE CLEARANCE (See  VALVE CLEARANCE (1ZZ-FE)  or  VALVE CLEARANCE (2ZZ-GE)  )
