- INSPECT COMBINATION METER ASSY
INSPECTION USING AN OSCILLOSCOPE
- Check the input signal wave form.
- Remove the combination meter assy.
- Connect the oscilloscope to the terminals E3-14 (SI) and body ground.
- Start the engine.
- Check the signal wave form according to the condition (s) in the table below.SIGNAL WAVE FORM CONDITION
Item Condition Tool setting 5 V/DIV., 20 ms/DIV. Vehicle condition Driving at approx. 20 km/h (12 mph)
OK:
The wave form is displayed as shown in the illustration.
HINT:
As the vehicle speed increases, the cycle of the signal wave form narrows.
- NG : Go to step 5
- OK : REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSY (SEE OVERHAUL )
- Check the input signal wave form.
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BETWEEN ABS & TRACTION ACTUATOR ASSY (VSC) AND COMBINATION METER ASSY)
- Disconnect the E3 and A34 (A40) connectors.
- Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.
Standard:
SPECIFIED CONDITIONTester Connection Condition Specified Condition E3-14 (SI) - A34-12 (SP1) ((2)) Always Below 1 Ω E3-14 (SI) - A40-23 (SP1) ((1)) Always Below 1 Ω E3-14 (SI) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher (1) *1): w/o VSC (2) *2): w/VSC
- NG : REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
- OK : Go to next step.
- INSPECT ABS & TRACTION ACTUATOR ASSY
- Disconnect the A34 (A40) connector.
- Measure the voltage according to the value (s) in the table below.
Standard:
SPECIFIED CONDITIONTester Connection Condition Specified Condition A34-12 (SP1) ((2)) - Body ground Ignition switch on (IG) 10 to 14 V A40-23 (SP1) ((1)) - Body ground Ignition switch on (IG) 10 to 14 V (1) *1): w/o VSC (2) *2): w/VSC
- NG : REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSY (SEE OVERHAUL )
- OK : GO TO BRAKE CONTROL SYSTEM (SEE PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE ) (W/O VSC), (SEE PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE ) (w/VSC)
