On-Vehicle Repair

Securely support the transmission on a transmission jack. Lift the transmission slightly from the crossmember.

1. Remove the 4 bolts on the rear mounting side from the engine rear mounting insulator.
2. Remove the 4 nuts, bolts, washers and crossmember.

Remove the 4 bolts and engine rear mounting insulator from the extension housing.

Remove the 6 bolts, gasket and extension housing.

If necessary, tap the extension housing with a plastic hammer or a block of wood to loosen it.

1. Using a snap ring expander, remove the snap ring.
2. Remove the speedometer drive gear and ball.

1. Remove the sensor rotor and key.
2. Using a snap ring expander, remove the snap ring.

1. Using a snap ring expander, install the snap ring.
2. Install the key and sensor rotor.

1. Install the speedometer drive gear and ball.
2. Using a snap ring expander, install the snap ring.

1. Apply sealant or equivalent to the 6 bolt thereads.

   Sealant: Part No. 08833 - 00080, THREE BOND 1344, LOCTITE 242 or equivalent 

2. Install the extension housing with a new gasket to the case.
3. Install the 6 bolts.

   Torque: 36 N.m (370 kgf.cm, 27 ft.lbf) 

   HINT: The 2 lower bolts are shorter.

Install the engine rear mounting insulator with the 4 bolts.

Torque: 65 N.m (660 kgf.cm, 48 ft.lbf)

1. Install the crossmember with the 4 washers, bolts and nuts.

   Torque: 72 N.m (734 kgf.cm, 53 ft.lbf) 

2. Install the 4 bolts on the rear mounting side to the engine rear mounting insulator.

   Torque: 18 N.m (185 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf)
