Automatic Transmission Unit: Removal
- REMOVE OIL FILLER PIPE
- Remove the ATF level gauge.
- Remove the bolt and oil filler pipe with the O-ring.
NOTE: At the time of installation, please refer to the following item. Replace used O-ring with a new one. - JACK UP VEHICLE
- REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER
- REMOVE FRONT AND CENTER EXHAUST PIPE AND NO. 2 EXHAUST FRONT PIPE (See COMPONENTS )

REMOVE PROPELLER SHAFT (See REMOVAL )
- A340F:
REMOVE FRONT AND REAR PROPELLER SHAFT (See REMOVAL )
- DISCONNECT NO. 1 VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR CONNECTOR
- DISCONNECT NO. 2 VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR CONNECTOR
- DISCONNECT SOLENOID CONNECTOR
- SEPARATE SHIFT CONTROL CABLE FROM TRANSMISSION
- Remove the 2 nuts and transmission control cable insulator.
Torque: 5.0 N.m (50 kgf.cm, 43 in..lbf)
- Remove the nut and disconnect the shift control cable.
Torque: 12.5 N.m (130 kgf.cm, 9 ft.lbf)
- Remove the 2 bolts and shift control cable bracket from the transmission.
Torque: 18 N.m (180 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf)
- Remove the 2 nuts and transmission control cable insulator.
- DISCONNECT O/D DIRECT CLUTCH SPEED SENSOR CONNECTOR
- DISCONNECT OIL COOLER PIPE
- Remove the 3 bolts and clamp.
- Disconnect the 2 oil cooler pipes.
Torque: 34 N.m (350 kgf.cm, 25 ft.lbf)
- DISCONNECT ATF TEMPERATURE SENSOR CONNECTOR
- DISCONNECT PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH CONNECTOR
- REMOVE REAR END PLATE AND TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH MOUNTING BOLT
- Remove the 2 bolts and rear end plate.
Torque: 18 N.m (180 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf)
- Turn the crankshaft to gain access and remove the 6 bolts while holding the crankshaft pulley set bolt with a wrench.
Torque: 41 N.m (420 kgf.cm, 30 ft.lbf)
NOTE: At the time of installation, please refer to the following item. First install the green colored bolt and then 5 other bolts. - Remove the 2 bolts and rear end plate.
- JACK UP TRANSMISSION SLIGHTLY
Securely support the transmission on a transmission jack.
Lift the transmission slightly from the cross member.
- REMOVE CROSS MEMBER
- Remove the 4 bolts on the rear mounting side from the engine rear mounting insulator.
Torque: 18 N.m (180 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf)
- Remove the 4 nuts, bolts, washers and cross member.
Torque: 72 N.m (730 kgf.cm, 53 ft.lbf)
- Remove the 4 bolts on the rear mounting side from the engine rear mounting insulator.
- REMOVE ENGINE REAR MOUNTING INSULATOR
Remove the 4 bolts and engine rear mounting insulator from the transmission.
Torque: 65 N.m (660 kgf.cm, 48 ft.lbf)
- REMOVE TRANSMISSION
- A340E:
Separate the wire harness from the transmission.
- A340F:
Separate the wire harness from the transmission and transfer.
- Lower the rear end of the transmission.
- Remove the 10 bolts and transmission.
Torque: 71 N.m (730 kgf.cm, 53 ft.lbf)
