Inspection Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Toyota Camry Solara. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. INSPECT CLOCK ASSY
    1. Check if the outside temperature read of the clock assy is equal to the actual temperature.
    1. NG : Go to step   3 .
    2. OK : Go to next step.
  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSY - CLOCK ASSY) (SEE  ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT INSPECTION PROCEDURE  )
    1. Disconnect the brake actuator assy S1 connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION  .

      Standard:

      RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester connection Specified condition
      S1-7 (TSI) - C5-19 (TAMO) Below 1 Ω
S1-7 (TSI) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
    1. NG : REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
    2. OK : PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN ON PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE (SEE  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE   )
  3. INSPECT COOLER (AMBIENT TEMP. SENSOR) THERMISTOR
    1. Remove the cooler (ambient temp. sensor) thermistor and disconnect the A1 connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION  .

      Standard:

      RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester connection Condition Specified condition
      A1-1 - A1-2 10°C (50°F) 3.00 to 3.73 kΩ
      A1-1 - A1-2 15°C (59°F) 2.45 to 2.88 kΩ
      A1-1 - A1-2 20°C (68°F) 1.95 to 2.30 kΩ
      A1-1 - A1-2 25°C (77°F) 1.60 to 1.80 kΩ
      A1-1 - A1-2 30°C (86°F) 1.28 to 1.47 kΩ
      A1-1 - A1-2 35°C (95°F) 1.00 to 1.22 kΩ
      A1-1 - A1-2 40°C (104°F) 0.80 to 1.00 kΩ
      A1-1 - A1-2 45°C (113°F) 0.65 to 0.85 kΩ
      A1-1 - A1-2 50°C (122°F) 0.50 to 0.70 kΩ
      A1-1 - A1-2 55°C (131ΩF) 0.44 to 0.60 kΩ
      A1-1 - A1-2 60°C (140°F) 0.36 to 0.50 kΩ

    HINT:

As the temperature increases, the resistance decreases (see Fig 3 ).

NOTE: Even slightly touching the sensor may change the resistance value. Be sure to hold the connector of the sensor.
