Diagnostic Procedure
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Toyota Avalon. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect body control ECU 25-pin electrical harness connector B4. See Figure. Locate wireless door lock control receiver in upper portion of right "C" pillar. See Figure. Disconnect 5-pin electrical harness connector D8 from wireless door lock control receiver. See Fig 1. Using DVOM, check continuity of Blue/White wire between body control ECU 25-pin electrical harness connector B4 terminal No. 21 and good body ground point. If continuity does not exist, go to next step. If continuity exists, repair short in Blue/White wire between body control ECU and wireless door lock control receiver. See POWER DOOR LOCKS in SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article.
- Reconnect body control ECU 25-pin electrical harness connector B4. Turn ignition on and retrieve DTCs. If DTC B1242/42 is present, diagnose body control ECU and retest system. See BODY CONTROL SYSTEM under TROUBLE SHOOTING under BODY CONTROL SYSTEMS - AVALON article under COMMUNICATION DEVICES in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT. If DTC B1242/42 is not present, replace wireless door lock control receiver. See WIRELESS DOOR LOCK CONTROL RECEIVER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION under KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEMS - AVALON article under DOOR LOCKS & ANTI-THEFT SYSTEMS in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT.
- After repairs have been made, perform confirmation test. See CONFIRMATION TEST under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
