Transmission Control Cable Assembly: Replacement

  1. DISCONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL 
  2. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSY (SEE  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  3. REMOVE AIR CONDITIONING RADIATOR ASSY (SEE  AIR CONDITIONING RADIATOR ASSY  ) 
  4. REMOVE AIR BAG SENSOR ASSY CENTER (SEE  REMOVAL & INSTALLATION  ) 
  5. REMOVE AIR CLEANER ASSY (SEE  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  6. REMOVE INTAKE AIR RESONATOR SUB-ASSY 
  7. DISCONNECT SHIFT CABLE GROMMET RETAINER NO.2 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the shift cable grommet retainer No.2.

  8. REMOVE FLOOR SHIFT CABLE TRANSMISSION CONTROL SHIFT 
    1. Remove the nut from the control shaft lever.

    2. Disconnect the control cable from the control shaft lever.
    3. Remove the clip and disconnect the control cable from the control cable bracket.

    4. Disconnect the control cable from the control cable clamp.

    5. Disconnect the floor shift cable from the transmission floor shift assy.

    6. Pull out the control cable from the body.
    7. Remove the shift cable grommet retainer No. 2.
  9. INSTALL FLOOR SHIFT CABLE TRANSMISSION CONTROL SHIFT 
    1. Put in the control cable to the body.
    2. Install the shift cable grommet retainer No.2 to the floor shift cable.
    3. Install the floor shift cable as shown in Fig 6 .

      HINT:

      • Install it with the uneven surface facing up.
      • Securely engage the claws.

    4. Connect the control cable to the control cable clamp.

    5. Connect the control cable with a new clip to the bracket.

    6. Temporarily install the control cable to the control shaft lever with the nut.

  10. INSTALL SHIFT CABLE GROMMET RETAINER NO.2 
    1. Install the shift cable grommet retainer No.2 with the 2 bolts.

      Torque:  5.0 N.m (50 kgf.cm, 43 in.lbf)

  11. INSTALL AIR BAG SENSOR ASSY CENTER (SEE  REMOVAL & INSTALLATION  ) 
  12. INSTALL AIR CONDITIONING RADIATOR ASSY (SEE  AIR CONDITIONING RADIATOR ASSY  ) 
  13. ADJUST SHIFT LEVER POSITION (SEE  ADJUSTMENT  ) 
  14. INSPECT SHIFT LEVER POSITION (SEE  ADJUSTMENT  ) 
  15. INSTALL INTAKE AIR RESONATOR SUB-ASSY 
  16. INSTALL AIR CLEANER ASSY (SEE  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  17. INSTALL BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL 
  18. PERFORM INITIALIZATION (SEE  INITIALIZATION  )
