Brake Actuator Assembly (W/VSC): Replacement

  1. DRAIN BRAKE FLUID 
    NOTE: Wash brake fluid off immediately if it adheres to any painted surface. 
  2. DISCONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL 
  3. REMOVE BRAKE ACTUATOR WITH BRACKET 
    1. Using SST, disconnect the 6 brake tubes from the actuator with bracket.

    2. Use tags or make a memo to identify the reconnection points.

    3. Pull the lock lever upward.

    4. Disconnect the actuator connector.
    5. Remove the 3 bolts and the actuator with bracket.
      NOTE: Be careful not to damage the brake tubes and wire harness.

  4. REMOVE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSY 
    1. Remove the 2 nuts and the brake actuator assy from the brake actuator bracket.
  5. INSTALL BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSY 
    1. Install the brake actuator assy with the 2 nuts.

      Torque:  5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 48 in.lbf)

  6. INSTALL BRAKE ACTUATOR WITH BRACKET 
    1. Install the actuator with bracket with the 3 bolts.

      Torque:  19 N.m (194 kgf.cm, 14 ft.lbf)

      NOTE: Be careful not to damage the brake tubes and wire harness. 
    2. Connect the actuator connector.
    3. Using SST, connect each brake tube to correct positions of the actuator with bracket, as shown in Fig 6 .

      SST 09023-00100

      Torque:  15 N.m (155 kgf.cm, 11 ft.lbf)

  7. FILL RESERVOIR WITH BRAKE FLUID (SEE  BRAKE FLUID  ) 
  8. BLEED MASTER CYLINDER (SEE  BRAKE FLUID  ) 

    SST 09023-00100

  9. BLEED BRAKE LINE (SEE  BRAKE FLUID  ) 
  10. CHECK BRAKE FLUID LEAKAGE 
  11. CHECK FLUID LEVEL IN RESERVOIR (SEE  BRAKE FLUID  ) 
  12. CONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL 
  13. PERFORM INITIALIZATION 

    HINT:

    When disconnecting the negative battery terminal, it is necessary to initialize other systems.

  14. PERFORM YAW RATE SENSOR ZERO POINT CALIBRATION (SEE  CALIBRATION  ) 
  15. CHECK BRAKE ACTUATOR WITH HAND-HELD TESTER (SEE  ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION  )
