Diagnosis & Repair

NOTE: Read freeze frame data using the hand-held tester or the OBD II scan tool, as freeze frame data records the engine conditions when a malfunction is detected.

For diagnosis and repair with Toyota Hand-held tester or an Enhanced OBD II scan tool, see Fig 1. For diagnosis and repair with generic OBD II scan tool (Non Enhanced), see Fig 3.

For diagnostic procedure on cranking holding function circuit, see CRANKING HOLDING FUNCTION CIRCUIT . PNP switch connector P1 is located right rear engine room, above R/H cylinder head cover. For starter relay circuit wiring diagram, see Fig 2. For ECM location, see Figure. For ECM connector view, see Figure.
