Door Key Lock & Unlock Switch

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Toyota Avalon. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Door key lock and unlock switch is incorporated in door lock assembly of driver and front passenger doors. Remove door panel from driver door or front passenger door for access to suspect door lock assembly. See POWER DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY (FRONT DOORS)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Black 6-pin electrical harness connector from suspect door lock assembly. Note door lock assembly terminal identification and switch positions. See Fig 1.
  3. Using an ohmmeter, check continuity between specified door lock assembly terminals with switch in specified position. See DOOR KEY LOCK & UNLOCK SWITCH CONTINUITY  table. Replace door key lock and unlock switch if continuity is not as specified. See POWER DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY (FRONT DOORS)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. It may be necessary to replace door lock assembly because door key lock and unlock switch may not be serviceable. Consult parts department for parts availability.
