Park/Neutral Position Switch
- Inspect park/neutral position switch assembly:
- Apply parking brake and turn ignition switch to "ON".
- Depress brake pedal and check that engine starts only when shift lever is set in "N" or "P" position.
- Check that back-up light is lit and reverse warning buzzer sounds only when shift lever is set in "R" position.
- If operation is not as specified, check park/neutral position switch continuity. See appropriate DIAGNOSIS article.
- Adjust park/neutral position switch assembly:
- Loosen park/neutral position switch retaining bolts. See Fig 1. Set transaxle control shift lever to "N" position.
- Align groove and neutral line. See Fig 2.
- Hold park/neutral position switch in position and tighten retaining bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- After adjustment, inspect park/neutral position switch to verify proper operation.
