Without Hand-Held Tester

  1. Using special tool (09843-18040), jumper between terminals Tc and CG of (DLC3). See Fig 1.
  2. Turn ignition switch on. Read DTCs from ABS warning light and TRAC OFF indicator light flashing patterns on combination meter. For flashing patterns for normal and codes 11 and 21 see Fig 2. If any DTCs are retrieved, perform appropriate test. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS .
  3. If 2 or more malfunctions are indicated at the same time, the lowest numbered DTC will be displayed first.
  4. If a code does not appear, inspect the TRAC OFF indicator light circuit or ABS warning light circuit. See TEST B: ABS WARNING LIGHT CIRCUIT  or TEST E: TRAC OFF INDICATOR, TRAC CUT SWITCH CIRCUIT  under SYMPTOM TESTING.
  5. Remove special tool and turn off display.
