Section 1029 (Wheel & Tire System): Inspection

  1. INSPECT TIRE 
    1. Check the tires for wear and proper inflation pressure.

      Cold tire inflation pressure: 

      COLD TIRE INFLATION PRESSURE

      Tire size Front kPa (kgf/cm2 , psi) Rear kPa (kgf/cm2 , psi)
      185/65R15 86S 240 (2.4, 35) 230 (2.3, 33)
    2. Using a dial indicator, check the tire runout (vertical and horizontal).

      Tire runout: 1.4 mm (0.055 in.) or less

  2. ROTATE TIRE 

    HINT:

    Rotate tires as shown in the illustration.

  3. INSPECT WHEEL BALANCE 
    1. Check and adjust the off-the-car balance.
    2. If necessary, check and adjust the on-the-car balance.

      Imbalance after adjustment: 8.0 g (0.018 lb) or less

  4. INSPECT BEARING BACKLASH (SEE  ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION  ) 
  5. INSPECT AXLE HUB DEVIATION (SEE  ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION  ) 
  6. INSPECT BEARING BACKLASH (SEE  ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION  ) 
  7. INSPECT AXLE HUB DEVIATION (SEE  ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION  )
