Inspection Procedure

  1. CHECK LOW PITCHED HORN ASSY 
    1. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to the terminal and negative (-) lead to the horn body, and check that the horn blows.

      Standard: Horn blows

    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE LOW PITCHED HORN ASSY 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  2. CHECK RELAY 
    1. Remove the horn relay from the engine room R/B and J/B.
    2. Check the horn relay continuity, as shown in Fig 2 and HORN RELAY TERMINAL CONTINUITY SPECIFICATIONS .

      Standard:

      HORN RELAY TERMINAL CONTINUITY SPECIFICATIONS

      Test Between Terminal No. Condition Specified Condition
      1 <=> 2 Constant Continuity
      3 <=> 5 Apply B+ Between Terminals 1 & 2 Continuity
    1. NG: REPLACE RELAY 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  3. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (TVIP ECU <=> ENGINE ROOM R/B and J/B) 
    1. Remove the horn relay from the engine room R/B and J/B.
    2. Disconnect the TVIP ECU connector.
    3. Check the continuity between the terminals of the TVIP ECU connector and engine room R/B and J/B connector, as shown in Fig 3 andTERMINAL CONTINUITY SPECIFICATIONS .

      Standard:

      TESTING TVIP ECU HORN TERMINALS

      Test Between Terminals No. Specified Condition
      HORN (T3-5) <=> 2 (1) Continuity
      (1) Horn relay terminal.
    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE WIRE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  4. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (ENGINE ROOM R/B and J/B <=> HORN) 
    1. Check the continuity between the terminals of the engine room R/B and J/B connector and horn connector, as shown in Fig 4 and TESTING ENGINE ROOM R/B TO J/B HORN CONTINUITY .

      Standard:

      TESTING ENGINE ROOM R/B TO J/B HORN CONTINUITY

      Test Between Terminals No. Specified Condition
      3 (1) <=> Horn (H6-1) Continuity
      (1) Horn relay terminal.
    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE WIRE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: CHECK AND REPLACE TVIP ECU (Refer to  ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT INSPECTION PROCEDURE  ).
