Monitor Description
The input shaft revolution sensor detects the transmission input shaft speed. The transmission control ECU determines the gear shift timing based on a comparison of the input shaft revolution sensor (input shaft speed) with the vehicle speed sensor (wheel speed). When the vehicle speed is higher than the expected value and the input shaft speed is 200 RPM or less while shift lever is not in the "N" position, the transmission control ECU will conclude that there is malfunction of the input shaft revolution sensor (NIP). The transmission control ECU will illuminate the MIL and set a DTC.
