Body & Frame: Windows: Windshield: Removal

  1. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH 
    1. Using a screwdriver, remove the front pillar garnish.

      HINT:

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    2. Employ the same manner described above to the other side.

  2. w/o Sliding roof: 
    1. REMOVE MAP LIGHT ASSEMBLY 
    1. Using a screwdriver, remove the lens.

      HINT:

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    2. Remove the 2 screws and map light assembly, then disconnect the connector.

  3. w/ Sliding roof: 
    1. REMOVE MAP LIGHT ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the screw.
    2. Using a moulding remover, remove the cover.
    3. Remove the screw and map light assembly, then disconnect the connector.
  4. REMOVE SUN VISORS 
  5. REMOVE SUN VISOR HOLDERS

  6. REMOVE INNER REAR VIEW MIRROR 

    Remove the inner rear view mirror as shown in the illustration.

  7. REMOVE WIPER ARMS 

    Remove the 2 wiper arm head caps, 2 nuts and 2 wiper arms.

  8. REMOVE HOOD TO COWL TOP SEAL

  9. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER 
    1. Remove the 4 screws and 6 clips.
    2. Using a screwdriver, remove the cowl top ventilator louver, then disconnect the washer hoses.

    HINT:

    Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

  10. w/Sliding roof: 
    1. REMOVE SLIDING ROOF OPENING TRIM 
  11. PULL DOWN FRONT PART OF ROOF HEADLINING 
  12. REMOVE WINDSHIELD OUTSIDE MOULDING 
    1. Using a knife, cut off the moulding as shown in the illustration.
      NOTE: Do not damage the body with the knife.
    2. Remove the remaining moulding.

  13. REMOVE WINDSHIELD GLASS 
    1. Insert a piano wire between body and glass and let it pass through.
    2. Tie both wire ends to wooden blocks or similar objects.
    3. w/ Front window defogger:

      Disconnect the connector.

      NOTE: Be careful not to damage the wire harness.

    4. Cut the adhesive by pulling the piano wire around it.
      NOTE: When separating the glass, take care not to damage the paint and exterior ornaments. To prevent the safety pad from being scratched when removing the windshield, place a plastic sheet between the piano wire and safety pad.

      HINT:

      Apply protective tape to the outer surface to keep the surface from being scratched.

    5. Remove the glass.
    NOTE: Leave the adhesive on the body as much as possible when cutting off the glass.
