Instrument Panel: Removal

  1. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATES 
  2. REMOVE COWL SIDE BOARDS 
  3. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM COVERS 
  4. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH 
    1. Using a screwdriver, remove the front pillar garnish.

      NOTE: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
    2. w/ Tweeter speaker:
      1. Disconnect the connector.
    3. Employ the same manner described above to the other side.
  5. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL PAD (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  6. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  7. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  8. REMOVE COMBINATION SWITCH (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  9. REMOVE LOWER FINISH PANEL 
    1. Remove the 2 screws and hood open lever.
    2. Remove the 2 bolts and lower finish panel then disconnect the connector.

  10. REMOVE NO.1 SAFETY PAD INSERT 

    Remove the 2 bolts and insert.

  11. REMOVE No. 2 FINISH PANEL 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts.
    2. Using a screwdriver, remove the No. 2 finish panel.

      NOTE: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
  12. DISCONNECT AIRBAG CONNECTOR 
    1. Using a screwdriver, pry out the glove compartment door finish plate.
      NOTE: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
    2. Remove the airbag connector from the glove compartment door finish plate.
    3. Disconnect the airbag connector.
      NOTE: When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

  13. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT 

    Remove the 3 nuts, 2 screws and glove compartment.

  14. REMOVE CENTER CLUSTER FINISH PANEL 

    Using a screwdriver, remove the panel, then disconnect the connectors.

    NOTE: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
  15. REMOVE LOWER CENTER CLUSTER FINISH PANEL 
    1. Remove the 4 screws and panel, then disconnect the connector.
    2. Remove the front ash receptacle box from the panel.

    4. Remove the 2 screws and front ash receptacle retainer from the panel.
  16. REMOVE UPPER CLUSTER FINISH PANEL

    1. Remove the 2 screws.
    2. Using a screwdriver, remove the panel, then disconnect the connectors.
      NOTE: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
  17. REMOVE KEY FINISH PLATE 
  18. REMOVE CLUSTER FINISH PANEL

    1. Remove the 5 screws.
    2. Using a screwdriver, remove the panel, then disconnect the connectors.
      NOTE: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
    3. Remove the 2 screws and heater blower switch from the panel.
    4. Remove the clock.
  19. REMOVE COMBINATION METER 
  20. REMOVE RADIO ASSEMBLY 
  21. REMOVE HEATER CONTROL ASSEMBLY (See  REMOVAL  (Auto A/C) or  REMOVAL  (Manual A/C)) 
  22. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts from the passenger airbag assembly.

      Torque: 20 N.m (205 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf) 

    2. Remove the 5 bolts, nut and instrument panel, then disconnect the connectors.
  23. REMOVE AUDIO AMPLIFIER 
  24. REMOVE NO.1 AND No. 2 BRACES 
  25. REMOVE No. 2 COWL BRACE 

    Torque: 20 N.m (205 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf) 

  26. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL REINFORCEMENT
