Transaxle Fluid

Limited information is available for Prius (hybrid vehicle) maintenance. See dealer for detailed information. As part of general maintenance requirements for this vehicle, manufacturer requires checking for transmission fluid leaks and repairing cause.

Under normal operating conditions, manufacturer recommends transmission fluid be inspected every 30,000 miles. See CHECKING FLUID LEVELS .

Under severe conditions (vehicle is used primarily to tow a trailer or haul a car top carrier), manufacturer recommends inspecting transmission fluid initially at 30,000 miles recurring every 60,000 miles after the initial inspection. Manufacturer recommends replacing transmission fluid at 60,000 mile intervals. See CHECKING FLUID LEVELS .
