Shift Lever: Disassembly
- Remove shift lever knob (if necessary).
- Remove shift lever housing.
- Remove slide cover.
- Remove shift position sensor. Remove the 3 bolts and shift position sensor.
- Remove shift illumination lamp with sub-assembly using the following steps:
- Disconnect the clamp from the shift lever assembly.
- Using a small screwdriver, release the secondary locking device (1).
- Using a small screwdriver, release the locking clip (2) of terminals No. 1 and 3, and pull the terminals out of the rearward. See Fig 1.
- Remove the shift illumination lamp wire sub-assembly (3) from the shift lever sub-assembly.
- Remove the bulb from the shift illumination lamp wire sub-assembly.
- Remove shift lock solenoid using the following steps:
- Disconnect the connector from the shift lock ECU.
- Using a small screwdriver, release the locking clip of the 2 terminals and pull the terminals out of the rearward. See Fig 2.
- Reconnect the connector to the shift lock ECU.
- Remove the bolt and shift lock solenoid assembly. See Fig 3.
- Remove the link assembly and compression spring from the shift lock solenoid.
- Using long-nose pliers, pull out the slotted spring pin from the link assembly. See Fig 4.
- Remove the link from the plunger.
- Remove the bolt and shift lock ECU. See Fig 5.
