Automatic Transmission Floor Shift Assembly: Overhaul

REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ASSY CENTER (See REPLACEMENT )
REMOVE FLOOR CARPET COVER CENTER RH (See REPLACEMENT )
REMOVE FLOOR CARPET COVER CENTER LH (See REPLACEMENT )
REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL LOWER CENTER (See REPLACEMENT )
SEPARATE FLOOR SHIFT TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSY
1. Disconnect the cable end from the floor shift assy.

REMOVE FLOOR SHIFT ASSY
1. Disconnect the 3 connectors.
2. Remove the 4 nuts and dismount the floor shift assy from the vehicle.

REMOVE FLOOR SHIFT SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSY
1. Releasing the lock by pressing the click, disconnect the indicator lamp wire connector from the shift lever plate.

2. Using a screwdriver, release the stopper of the connector.

3. Using a small screwdriver, disengage the locking lug of the terminals 1 and 4, and pull the terminals out from the rear.
4. Disconnect the 2 wire harness of the transmission control switch from the clamp.
5. Lower the shift lever knob cover.
6. Remove the 2 screws and shift lever knob from the shift lever.

REMOVE FLOOR SHIFT SHIFT LEVER KNOB COVER
1. Remove the shift lever knob cover from the shift lever.
REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB BUTTON
1. Using a screwdriver, release the claw and remove the shift lever knob button and spring from the shift lever knob.

REMOVE TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH
1. Remove the screw and from the shift lever knob, detach the transmission control switch together with the shift lever knob cover No. 1.

2. Using a screwdriver, release the 2 claws and remove the transmission control switch from the shift lever knob cover No. 1.

REMOVE INDICATOR LAMP WIRE SUB-ASSY
1. Remove the indicator lamp wire from the position indicator housing lower.

2. Remove the indicator lamp cap and indicator lamp bulb from the indicator lamp wire.
REMOVE CONTROL POSITION INDICATOR PLATE
1. Using a small screwdriver, remove the shift lock release cover from the control position indicator plate.

2. Using a screwdriver, release the 4 claws and remove the control position indicator plate from the position indicator housing lower.

REMOVE POSITION INDICATOR HOUSING LOWER
1. Remove the 3 screws, detach the position indicator housing lower from the shift lever plate.

REMOVE SHIFT LOCK RELEASE BUTTON
1. While pressing the 2 claws, remove the shift lock release button and spring from the position indicator housing lower.

REMOVE PATTERN SELECT SWITCH ASSY NO. 1
1. Using a screwdriver, release the 4 claws and remove the pattern select switch assy No. 1 from the position indicator housing lower.

REMOVE POSITION INDICATOR SLIDE COVER
1. Remove the position indicator slide cover from the position indicator housing lower.

1. Remove the 4 bolts and nut, detach the shift lever housing from the shift lever plate.

REMOVE SHIFT LOCK CONTROL UNIT ASSY
1. Remove the 2 screws and the shift lock control unit assy from the shift lever plate.

REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SLEEVE
1. Remove the shift lever knob sleeve from the shift lever.

INSTALL SHIFT LEVER KNOB SLEEVE
1. Apply MP grease to the shown part of the shift lever knob sleeve and install it to the shift lever.

INSTALL SHIFT LOCK CONTROL UNIT ASSY
1. Install the shift lock control unit assy to the shift lever plate with 2 screws.

INSTALL FLOOR SHIFT SHIFT LEVER HOUSING SUB-ASSY
1. Install the shift lever housing to the shift lever plate with 4 bolts and nut.

  Torque: 5.7 N.m (58 kgf.cm, 50 in.lbf)
INSTALL POSITION INDICATOR SLIDE COVER
1. Install the position indicator slide cover to the position indicator housing lower.

INSTALL PATTERN SELECT SWITCH ASSY NO. 1
1. Install the pattern select switch assy No. 1 to the position indicator housing lower.
NOTE: Fit the claws securely.

INSTALL SHIFT LOCK RELEASE BUTTON
1. Install the shift lock release button and greased spring to the position indicator housing lower.
NOTE:
Fit the claws securely.
INSTALL POSITION INDICATOR HOUSING LOWER
1. Install the position indicator housing lower to the shift lever plate with 3 screws.

INSTALL CONTROL POSITION INDICATOR PLATE
1. Install the control position indicator plate to the position indicator housing lower.

  NOTE: Fit the claws securely.
2. Install the shift lock release cover to the control position indicator plate.
INSTALL INDICATOR LAMP WIRE SUB-ASSY
1. Install the indicator lamp bulb and indicator lamp cap to the indicator lamp wire.

2. Install the indicator lamp wire to the position indicator housing lower.
INSTALL TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH
1. Install the transmission control switch to the shift lever knob cover No. 1.

  NOTE: Fit the claws securely.
2. Install the shift lever knob cover No. 1 to the shift lever knob with a screw.

INSTALL SHIFT LEVER KNOB BUTTON
1. Apply MP grease to the shift lever knob button and spring and install them to the shift lever knob.
INSTALL FLOOR SHIFT SHIFT LEVER KNOB COVER
1. Install the shift lever knob cover to the shift lever.
INSTALL FLOOR SHIFT SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSY
1. Install the wire harness of the transmission control switch as shown in Fig 31.

2. Install the shift lever knob to the shift lever with 2 screws.
3. Install the shift lever knob cover to shift lever knob.
4. Install the 2 wire harness of the transmission control switch.
5. Install the indicator lamp wire harness and connector as shown in Fig 32.

INSTALL FLOOR SHIFT ASSY
1. Install the floor shift assy to the vehicle with the 4 nuts.

  Torque: 11.8 N.m (122 kgf.cm, 9 ft.lbf)
  
  NOTE: Tighten them in the order, A, B, C and D.
2. Connect the 3 connectors.
INSTALL FLOOR SHIFT TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSY
1. Connect the cable end to the floor shift assy.

NOTE: Install it with the uneven surface facing up.
