Quarter Window Assembly LH: Replacement
NOTE:
- The installation is in the reverse order of the removal. However, when there is a special point concerning the installation, it is indicated.
- On the RH side, use in the same procedure as on the LH side.
- REMOVE REAR SEAT ASSY LH (See step 3 under OVERHAUL )
- REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH (See steps 5 & 6 under REPLACEMENT )
- REMOVE REAR DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP LH
- REMOVE TONNEAU COVER ASSY (W/ TONNEAU COVER)
- REMOVE DECK BOARD SUB-ASSY (See step 17 under REPLACEMENT )
- REMOVE DECK BOARD SUB-ASSY NO. 3
- REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRAY
- REMOVE DECK SIDE TRIM BOX LH (See steps 22 and 23 under REPLACEMENT )
- REMOVE REAR FLOOR FINISH PLATE (See step 24 under REPLACEMENT )
- REMOVE LUGGAGE HOLD BELT STRIKER ASSY
- REMOVE REAR COMBINATION LAMP SERVICE COVER LH
- REMOVE DECK SIDE TRIM COVER LH (See REPLACEMENT )
- REMOVE DECK TRIM SIDE PANEL ASSY LH
- REMOVE QUARTER PILLAR GARNISH LH (See steps 27 and 28 under REPLACEMENT )
- REMOVE ROOF SIDE RAIL GARNISH SUB-ASSY LH (See steps 29 and 30 under REPLACEMENT )
- REMOVE ROOF SIDE GARNISH ASSY INNER LH (See steps 31 and 32 under REPLACEMENT )
- REMOVE QUARTER WINDOW ASSY LH
- Using a knife, cut off the molding as shown in Fig 1.
CAUTION: Do not damage the body with the knife.
- Disconnect the connector.
- Pass a piano wire through between the body and glass from the interior.
- Tie both wire ends to wooden blocks or similar objects.NOTE: Apply protective tape to the outer surface to prevent the surface from being scratched.CAUTION: When separating the glass, take care not to damage the paint and interior exterior ornaments as shown in Fig 2.
- Cut the adhesive by pulling the piano wire around it.
- Remove the glass.NOTE: Leave as much adhesive on the body as possible when cutting off the glass.
- Using a knife, cut off the molding as shown in Fig 1.
- INSTALL QUARTER WINDOW GLASS SPACER
- Remove the damaged spacer.
- Cut off the old adhesive around the spacer installation area.CAUTION: Be careful not to damage the body.
- Clean the installation area.
- Install a new quarter window glass spacer onto the glass.
- INSTALL QUARTER WINDOW ASSY LH
- Clean and shape the contact surface of the body panel.
- Using a knife, cut away any rough adhesive on the contact surface of the body to shape the surface.

NOTE: Leave as much of the adhesive on the body panel as possible. - Clean the cutting surface of the adhesive with a piece of shop rag saturated with cleaner.
NOTE: Even if all the adhesive has been removed, clean the body. - Using a knife, cut away any rough adhesive on the contact surface of the body to shape the surface.
- Position glass.
- Place the glass in the correct position.
- Check that all contacting parts of the glass rim are perfectly even.
- Place reference marks between the glass and body panel.
- Remove the glass.
- Coat contact surface of body panel with Primer M.

- Using a brush, coat Primer M to the exposed part of body panel on the vehicle side.
NOTE:- Dry the primer coating for 3 minutes or more.
- Do not apply Primer M onto the adhesive.
- Do not keep any of the opened Primer M for later use.
- Using a brush or sponge, coat the edge of the glass and the contact surface with Primer G.
- Using a brush or sponge, coat the edge of the glass and the contact surface with Primer G.
- When the primer is coated wrongly to the area other than the specified, wipe it off with a clean shop rag before the primer dries.
NOTE:- Dry the primer coating dry for 3 minutes or more.
- Do not keep any of the opened Primer G for later use.
- Apply adhesive.
- Cut off the tip of the cartridge nozzle.

NOTE: After cutting off the tip, use all adhesive within the time described in ADHESIVE SPECIFICATIONS .ADHESIVE SPECIFICATIONSTemperature Tackfree Time 35° C (95° F) 15 Minutes 20° C (68° F) 100 Minutes 5° C (41° F) 8 Hours - Load the sealer gun with the cartridge.
- Coat the glass with adhesive, as shown in the illustration on the previous page.
a: 8 mm (0.31 in.)
b: 6 mm (0.24 in.)
c: 5 mm (0.20 in.)
d: 2 mm (0.08 in.)
e: 4 mm (0.16 in.)
NOTE:- Dry the primer coating dry for 3 minutes or more.
- Do not coat Primer M to the adhesive.
- Do not keep any of the opened Primer M for later use.
- Cut off the tip of the cartridge nozzle.
- Install the glass.
- Using a suction rubber, position the glass so that the reference marks are lined up, and press it in gently along the rim.NOTE:
- Dry the primer coating for 3 minutes or more.
- Check that the stoppers are attached to the body correctly.
- Check the clearance between the body and glass.
- Lightly press the glass front surface for close contact.
- Using a scraper, remove any excess or protruding adhesive.NOTE: Confirm that the molding is attached to the body panel as shown in Fig 7.CAUTION: Take care not to drive the vehicle during the time described in ADHESIVE SPECIFICATIONS .

ADHESIVE SPECIFICATIONSTemperature Minimum Time Prior To Driving The Vehicle 35° C(95° F) 1.5 Hours 20° C(68° F) 5 Hours 5° C(41° F) 24 Hours
- Using a suction rubber, position the glass so that the reference marks are lined up, and press it in gently along the rim.
- Clean and shape the contact surface of the body panel.
- WATER-LEAK CHECK AND REPAIR
- Conduct a leak test after adhesive has completely hardened.
- Seal any leak with sealant.
