Bench Testing: No-Load: 4-Cylinder

  1. Connect the battery and ammeter in series to the starter. See Fig 1.
  2. Check that the starter rotates smoothly and steadily with the pinion gear moving out.
  3. Check that the ammeter shows the specified current of 90 amps or less at 11.5 volts.
