Retrieving Diagnostic Trouble Codes: Notes

NOTE: Always record DTCs during retrieval. DTCs will be erased from memory when DTCs are retrieved.

NOTE: Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) may be retrieved using Toyota hand-held tester or On-Board Diagnostic (OBD-II) scan tool that complies with SAE standard J-1978.

NOTE: If scan tool or Toyota hand-held tester is not available, retrieve diagnostic trouble codes using OPEN DOOR indicator light. See USING OPEN DOOR INDICATOR LIGHT .
