Basic Inspection

  1. Basic inspection confirms that the body control ECU is functional and able to identify faults in the systems/circuits it monitors. Before proceeding, ensure battery open circuit voltage is 10-14 volts. If battery open circuit voltage is not 10-14 volts, charge or replace battery as required.
  2. Ensure OPEN DOOR indicator light illuminates when any door is opened. If indicator operates properly, proceed to RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES . If indicator does not operate properly, diagnose and repair OPEN DOOR indicator light. See SYMPTOM INDEX (INSTRUMENT PANEL)  under SYSTEM TESTS.
