Cruise Control Ecu Power Source Circuit

  1. Locate ECU-IG (7.5-amp) fuse in instrument panel junction block No. 1 on lower left side of instrument panel. See Figure. Remove ECU-IG fuse and check fuse continuity. If fuse is okay, go to next step. If fuse is not okay, check for short between terminal No. 9 (Yellow/Red wire) of cruise control ECU connector and ECU-IG fuse. See Figure.
  2. Remove cruise control ECU with connector attached. Turn ignition switch on. Measure voltage (backprobe) between terminals No. 9 (Yellow/Red wire) and No. 16 (White/Black wire) of cruise control ECU connector. See Figure. If 10-16 volts are not present, go to next step. If 10-16 volts are present, no problem is indicated at this time. Fault may be intermittent. If sent here from SYMPTOM TESTS , perform next test listed.
  3. Turn ignition off. Measure resistance by backprobing between ground and terminal No. 16 (White/Black wire) of cruise control ECU connector. If resistance is less than one ohm, go to next step. If resistance is more than one ohm, repair open in White/Black wire.
  4. Disconnect negative battery terminal. Check continuity of White wire between battery and ALT (120-amp) fuse in engine compartment fuse block. Check continuity of ALT fuse. Check continuity between ALT fuse and AM1 (40-amp) fuse in engine compartment fuse block. Check continuity of AM1 fuse. Check continuity of White wire between AM1 fuse and terminal AM1 (No. 2) of ignition switch harness connector. Check continuity of Black Yellow wire between terminal IG1 (No. 4) of ignition switch harness connector and ECU-IG fuse in instrument panel fuse block. Repair as necessary.
