Rear Wiper Motor

  1. Rear wiper motor is located on back (rear liftgate) door. See Figure. Remove necessary door panels for access to rear wiper motor. Disconnect Gray 5-pin electrical connector at rear wiper motor.
  2. To test rear wiper motor low speed operation, using jumper wires, connect battery voltage and ground to specified terminals on rear wiper motor. Perform STEP 1 in illustration. See Fig 1. Check that rear wiper motor operates on low speed. Disconnect jumper wires. If rear wiper motor operates on low speed, go to next step. If rear wiper motor does not operate on low speed, replace rear wiper motor.
  3. To test rear wiper motor high speed operation, using jumper wires, connect battery voltage and ground to specified terminals on rear wiper motor. Perform STEP 2 in illustration. See Fig 1. Check that rear wiper motor operates on high speed. Disconnect jumper wires. If rear wiper motor operates on high speed, go to next step. If rear wiper motor does not operate on high speed, replace rear wiper motor.
  4. To test rear wiper motor stop position operation, using jumper wires, connect battery voltage and ground to specified terminals on rear wiper motor so that rear wiper motor operates on low-speed and then stop rear wiper motor in any position except the stop position by disconnecting the lead for positive battery terminal from rear wiper motor. Perform STEP 3 in illustration. See Fig 1.
  5. Connect jumper wire between terminals No. 1 and 5 on rear wiper motor. Perform STEP 4 in illustration. See Fig 1. Using jumper wires, connect battery voltage and ground to terminals No. 2 and 4 on rear wiper motor. Perform STEP 4 in illustration. See Fig 1. Rear wiper motor should operate and then stop running when it reaches the stop position. Disconnect jumper wires. Replace rear wiper motor if operation is not as specified.
