Rear Wiper/Washer Switch
- Rear wiper/washer switch is incorporated into the wiper/washer switch on passenger's side of steering column. See Figure. Wiper/washer switch controls windshield wiper/washer and rear wiper/washer on back (rear liftgate) door. For windshield wiper application, the intermittent time interval is controlled by rotating inner dial on the lever, windshield wiper speed is controlled by moving lever upward and downward, and windshield washer operation is controlled by pulling the lever toward the steering wheel. Rear wiper on back (rear liftgate) door intermittent time interval is controlled by rotating outer knob on end of lever to the 2 center positions and rear washer operation is controlled by rotating outer knob on end of lever to fully clockwise or counterclockwise position.
- Remove necessary covers from steering column for access to wiper/washer switch. Disconnect Black 18-pin electrical connector from bottom of wiper/washer switch. Note wiper/washer switch electrical terminals and wiper/washer switch positions for rear wiper/washer. See Fig 1.
- Using ohmmeter, check that continuity is as specified between indicated wiper/washer switch electrical terminals in relation to wiper/washer switch positions for rear wiper/washer. See WIPER/WASHER SWITCH CONTINUITY table. Replace wiper/washer switch if defective. See WIPER/WASHER SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.WIPER/WASHER SWITCH CONTINUITY
