Test No. 70: One Side Of Power Mirror Does Not Operate
NOTE:
Test applies only to models with memory power mirrors.
- Check power mirror position sensor. See POWER MIRROR POSITION SENSOR under COMPONENT TESTS. If power mirror position sensor is okay, go to next step. If power mirror position sensor is defective, replace power mirror assembly and recheck power mirror operation.
- Check wiring harness and electrical connectors between power mirror position sensor on power mirror and passenger's door Electronic Control Unit (ECU) for the malfunctioning power mirror. See WIRING DIAGRAMS in POWER MIRRORS article. Passenger's door ECU is located on passenger's door and is incorporated into the power window switch assembly. See Figure. If wiring harness and electrical connectors are okay, go to next step. If wiring harness or electrical connectors are defective, repair as necessary and recheck power mirror operation.
- Check passenger's door ECU for proper voltage and input signals. See PASSENGER'S DOOR ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT under PIN VOLTAGE TESTS. If proper voltage and input signals exist, go to next step. If proper voltage or input signal does not exist, repair as necessary and recheck power mirror operation.
- Replace passenger's door ECU with a known-good door ECU and recheck power mirror operation. If power mirror operates properly, original passenger's door ECU was defective. If power mirror still does not operate properly, check wiring harness and electrical connectors for an intermittent problem. Repair wiring harness or electrical connector as necessary.
