Diagnostic Circuit

  1. Locate Data Link Connector (DLC) No. 1 in left side of engine compartment, near air intake chamber. See Figure. Connect voltmeter positive lead to terminal Tc and negative lead to terminal E1. See Figure. Turn ignition switch to ON position. If battery voltage is not present, go to next step. If battery voltage is present, no problem is indicated at this time. Fault may be intermittent. If sent here from SYMPTOM DIAGNOSIS, perform next test listed.
  2. Check for open or short circuit in Gray wire between terminal No. 11 of DLC No. 1 and terminal No. 7 of Electronic Control Module (ECM) 24-pin harness connector E10. See Figure. Check continuity between terminal No. 12 of DLC No. 1 and ground (located at center of left inner fenderwell). If wiring harness and connectors are okay, replace ECM and retest system.
