Trouble Shooting: Notes

NOTE: To help save diagnostic time, perform a brief visual inspection of wire harnesses, connectors, fuses and other related components. Perform trouble shooting procedures in order.
  1. Retrieve Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). See DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTICS. Record DTCs, and then clear DTCs. See CLEARING DTCS  under SELF-DIAGNOSTICS.
  2. Verify customer's complaint of symptom. If symptom does not occur, attempt to simulate by wiggling wire harnesses and connectors, and lightly tapping system components.
  3. If symptom occurs, recheck for DTCs. If DTC(s) are present, go to DTC IDENTIFICATION  table under SELF-DIAGNOSTICS. Perform appropriate test as directed and repair as necessary. If no DTCs are retrieved, go to SYMPTOM DIAGNOSIS .
