Preliminary Inspection

Ensure parking brake is released. Turn ignition on. ABS warning light should illuminate for 3 seconds, then go off. BRAKE warning light should remain illuminated until engine is started.

With ignition on (engine off) for about 2 minutes, depress and release (full stroke) brake pedal 10-20 times within 10 seconds. Warning lights should illuminate and buzzer should sound. If lights operate as specified, system is currently functioning correctly. If lights do not operate as specified, proceed with diagnosis and repair.
