Actuator Check

NOTE: Actuator check is performed using Actuator Checker (09990-00150) and harness adapters. If actuator does not operate as described, check ABS/TRAC solenoid relay and ABS/TRAC motor relay (DTCs 11, 12, 13, and 14). If solenoid and/or motor relay are abnormal, replace appropriate relay and repeat actuator check.
  1. Turn ignition off. Ensure battery voltage is 10-14 volts. Disconnect 2 actuator electrical connectors. Connect actuator checker and harness adapters to ABS/TRAC actuator following manufacturer's instructions. Connect Red cable of checker to positive battery terminal and Black cable to negative battery cable or body ground.
  2. Place Sheet "A" (09990-00163) onto actuator checker. Start engine and run at idle. Turn actuator checker selector switch to FRONT RH position. See Fig 1. Press and hold actuator checker MOTOR switch for a few seconds. Depress brake pedal and hold. Press actuator checker POWER SWITCH and ensure brake pedal does not go down. DO NOT apply POWER SWITCH for more than 10 seconds. Release switch. Ensure brake pedal goes down.
  3. Press and hold actuator checker MOTOR switch for a few seconds. Ensure brake pedal returns. Release brake pedal. Press and hold MOTOR switch for a few seconds. Depress brake pedal and hold for about 15 seconds. While holding brake pedal, press MOTOR switch for a few seconds. Ensure brake pedal does not pulsate. Release brake pedal.
  4. Repeat procedures performed in steps  23 to check actuator in FRONT LH, REAR RH and REAR LH position. When inspecting REAR LH position, press REAR LH POWER SWITCH instead of POWER SWITCH. Check may be performed in any selector switch position. Press and hold MOTOR switch for a few seconds. Turn engine off. Disconnect actuator checker from actuator and reconnect actuator connectors. Repair or replace actuator as necessary.
