Test No. 12

  1. Check Hood Courtesy Switch

    Check hood courtesy switch operation. See HOOD COURTESY SWITCH  under COMPONENT TESTS. If hood courtesy switch operates properly, go to next step. If hood courtesy switch is defective, replace hood courtesy switch.
  2. Check Hood Courtesy Switch Wiring

    Check for loose or defective connectors. Check Light Green/Black wire between anti-theft system Electronic Control Unit (ECU) 25-pin connector terminal No. 14 and hood courtesy switch. See Figure. Check White/Black wire between body ground and hood courtesy switch. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Anti-theft system ECU is located behind center of instrument panel, near instrument panel cluster and uses a 9-pin electrical connector and a 25-pin electrical connector. See Figure.
  3. If connectors and wiring are okay, replace anti-theft system ECU. See ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM ECU  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If connectors or wiring are defective, repair as necessary.
