Test No. 7
- Check ECU-IG Fuse & CIG/RAD Fuse
Remove ECU-IG and CIG/RAD fuses from instrument panel fuse/relay box located at driver's side of instrument panel. See Figure.
- Using ohmmeter, ensure continuity exists across each fuse. If fuse is okay, go to next step. If fuse is blown, check for short circuit in wiring circuit to appropriate fuse and anti-theft system Electronic Control Unit (ECU). Anti-theft system ECU is located near passenger's side of instrument panel, behind glove box, just above kick panel and uses a 12-pin electrical connector and a 22-pin electrical connector. See Figure. Replace appropriate fuse and repair appropriate wiring as necessary.
- Check Voltage At Terminal IG At Anti-Theft System Electronic Control Unit (ECU)
Remove glove compartment door for access to anti-theft system ECU. Anti-theft system ECU is located near passenger's side of instrument panel, behind glove box, just above kick panel and uses a 12-pin electrical connector and a 22-pin electrical connector. See Figure.
- Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect electrical connectors at anti-theft system ECU. Turn ignition on. Using voltmeter, check voltage between ground and terminal IG (Black/Red wire). See Fig 1.
- Voltage should be 10-14 volts. If voltage is within specification, replace anti-theft system ECU. See ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM ECU under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If voltage is not within specification, check for defective connectors and Black/Red wire between anti-theft system ECU and battery. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If necessary to check ignition switch, see IGNITION SWITCH under COMPONENT TESTS.
