Test No. 12

  1. Check Trunk Opener Switch Operation

Disconnect 2-pin electrical connector at trunk opener switch. Trunk opener switch is located inside glove box. See Figure.
  2. Using ohmmeter, check that no continuity exists between both electrical terminals on trunk opener switch with switch in OFF position and continuity exists with switch in ON position. If trunk opener switch operates properly, go to next step. If trunk opener switch does not operate properly, replace trunk opener switch.
  3. Check Trunk Opener Switch Wiring

Check for defective connectors and White/Blue wire between anti-theft system Electronic Control Unit (ECU) and trunk opener switch, and defective connectors and White/Black wire between body ground and trunk opener switch. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Anti-theft system ECU is located near passenger's side of instrument panel, behind glove box, just above kick panel and uses a 12-pin electrical connector and a 22-pin electrical connector. See Figure. If connectors and wiring are okay, go to next test listed. See TROUBLE SHOOTING SYMPTOMS  table under TROUBLE SHOOTING. If connectors or wiring are defective, repair as necessary.
