Supercharger By-Pass Valve

  1. Supercharger by-pass valve is located on outlet duct. See Figure. Remove supercharger by-pass valve. See SUPERCHARGER under AIR INDUCTION SYSTEM in REMOVAL & INSTALLATION article.
  2. Note supercharger by-pass valve terminal identification. See Figure. To test supercharger by-pass valve resistance, use ohmmeter to check resistance between terminal B1 and terminals S1, S2, S3 and S4. Check resistance between terminal B2 and terminals S1, S2, S3 and S4. Replace supercharger by-pass valve if resistance is not 19.9-23.4 ohms at 68°F (20°C).
  3. To test supercharger by-pass valve operation, apply battery voltage and ground to terminals B1 and B2. See Figure. Repeatedly ground terminals in sequence and ensure supercharger by-pass valve closes and opens. See SUPERCHARGER BY-PASS VALVE GROUNDING SEQUENCE  table. See Figure. Replace supercharger by-pass valve if defective.
