Fuel Rails & Fuel Injectors: Installation

  1. Coat NEW "O" rings with gasoline and install on fuel injector. Install NEW insulator on fuel injector.
    NOTE: Fuel injectors must be installed on fuel rail so fuel injector electrical connector is facing the proper direction. See Fig 3.
  2. Install fuel injectors on fuel rail. Ensure fuel injector electrical connectors are facing the proper direction. See Fig 3. Install fuel injector covers. Tighten bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  3. To install remaining components, reverse removal procedure using NEW insulators and gaskets. Ensure spacers and insulators are installed when installing fuel rail.
  4. Tighten fuel rail-to-cylinder head bolts and fuel inlet pipe-to-fuel rail union bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Operate fuel pump and check for fuel leaks. See FUEL PUMP OPERATION under FUEL SYSTEM in BASIC TESTING .
