Test 4, Speed Sensor Circuit

  1. Perform VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR test under CRUISE CONTROL CIRCUIT FUNCTION TEST  under TROUBLE SHOOTING. If speed sensor input signals are as specified, replace CC ECU and retest system. If input signals are not as specified, go to next step.
  2. Remove instrument cluster. Disconnect 3-pin connector and remove vehicle speed sensor from instrument cluster. Connect positive battery lead to sensor terminal No. 1 (Black/Yellow wire). Connect negative battery lead to sensor terminal No. 2 (Pink/Blue wire). Connect voltmeter positive lead to sensor terminal No. 3 (Gray/blue wire) and negative lead to sensor terminal No. 2. See Fig 1 - Fig 3 .
  3. Ensure a change of 0-11 volts or more occurs as sensor shaft is rotated. Voltage should change 4 times per each rotation. If sensor operation is not as specified, replace sensor. If sensor operation is not as specified, replace CC ECU and retest system.
