Vehicle Speed Sensor Operation

On 4-cylinder models, a vehicle speed sensor is mounted on back of instrument cluster. Speed sensor rotor shaft is driven by a gear on speedometer output shaft. For each shaft rotation, speed sensor sends a 4-pulse signal to CC ECU. On V6 models, ABS speed sensor is used in conjunction with ABS ECU to transmit 4-pulse signal to CC ECU. CC ECU calculates vehicle speed from this pulse frequency.
