NOTE: Ensure TP sensor adjustment and operation is normal. For MR2 2.0L (TURBO), see ADJUSTMENTS - 2.0L (TURBO) or for MR2 2.2L, see ADJUSTMENTS - 2.2L article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. Adjust or replace throttle position sensor as necessary.
  1. Disconnect CC ECU connector. See Figure. With accelerator pedal released, check for continuity between ground and CC ECU connector terminal No. 21. See Figure. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, locate and repair open in wiring harness between throttle position sensor and CC ECU connector.
  2. With accelerator pedal depressed, check for continuity between ground and CC ECU connector terminal No. 21. If continuity does not exist, replace CC ECU and recheck system operation. If continuity exists, locate and repair short in wiring harness between CC ECU connector terminal No. 21 and throttle position sensor connector.
