Power Steering Pump: Disassembly
- Mount pump in vise. Remove pulley and key. See Fig 1. Remove suction and pressure ports. Remove flow control valve. Remove rear housing snap ring.
- Wrap vinyl tape around pump shaft. Using plastic mallet, tap out rear housing and wave washer. Remove "O" ring. Using plastic mallet, tap end of shaft to remove rear plate. Remove "O" ring.
- Remove shaft, cam ring, and vane plates. Pull out longer straight pin. Remove snap ring, rotor, and front plate.
